Key permit for investment

Investments in Myanmar are subject to obtaining certain approvals and related licenses.  Investment permit/ endorsement under Myanmar Investment Law is one of the key permits especially for foreign companies who are restricted from entering into lease agreement for more than a year without an investment permit/ endorsement.

Unsolicited proposal

  • Application to Myanmar Investment Commission

This is for investments of US$ 5 million and more or for those falling in the category that requires investment permit.

  • Application to State/ Regional Government

This is for investments below US$  5 million.

  • Unsolicited proposal

Unsolicited proposal has to be started from proposal to relevant government departments to be followed by tender or swiss challenge.

  • Exemption or relief from import tax for construction materials or machines/ equipment to be imported during construction period.
  • Myanmar Investment Commissions is the regulator of Myanmar Investment Law under which investment permits/ endorsements are issued.
  • Other relevant licenses such as construction permit, industrial license, environmetal certificate, fire safety certificate, electricity safety certificate, boiler cerficiate, export/import license, labor registration, foreign expatriate visa/stay renewal, etc. are regulated by respective departments.
